The official textile of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virgin Islands Madras, was designed by St. Croix artist Debbie Sun, in partnership with the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts. The design features colors representing different aspects of our culture: turquoise represents the water that surrounds the Virgin Islands; royal blue represents the deep sea harbor; pink represents conch shells; white represents sacks of flour; yellow represents the territory’s official flower (the Ginger Thomas); green represents the natural resources of the Virgin Islands; and red stands for strength and love.

Originally intended for cultural dance attire, VI Madras can now be seen in a variety of applications, from stationery to home goods to fashion — and is even depicted in this vibrant mural at Sunny Isle Shopping Center. We think it makes a beautiful backdrop for our teal Jeep Renegade Sport.
