When guests arrive on St. Croix, our team loves to make suggestions of things to do and one of our favorite destinations to suggest is the St. George Village Botanical Garden of the Virgin Islands. The Garden is a tranquil, peaceful setting to take in the natural beauty of St. Croix, as well as many other exotic plant species of the Caribbean.
There are more than 1,500 varieties of plants at the Garden. During a self-guided tour, you can take a walk through an exotic rain forest, historical ruins, a naturalized forest, a medicinal garden, a conservation garden, and several other collections. You’ll discover an orchid house with more than 60 species of orchids, a bat house (shhh…the bats are sleeping during the day), a butterfly garden teeming with colorful butterflies, succulents, fruit trees, historic artifacts, and so much more. The St. George Village Botanical Garden Gift Shop is a wonderful place to find local souvenirs and gifts. If you’re local, the St. George Village Botanical Garden Nursery is the perfect place to find native and tropical plants for your landscape.
The St. George Village Botanical Garden hosts multiple events throughout the year. Some of our favorites include Mango Melee (July 12, 2020), Jumbies in the Garden (Halloween), and Christmas Spoken Here. Follow St. George Village Botanical Garden on Facebook to get event updates. The Garden is also a beautiful backdrop for weddings and other events.
St. George Village Botanical Garden membership is a wonderful way to support the preservation of the natural beauty of St. Croix.
Celebrating 30 Years
In celebration of Centerline’s 30th anniversary, we’re sharing 30 Things Centerline Loves About St. Croix. Each week we’ll share something new — and we hope you’ll chime in on social media by telling us what you love too! Our big 3-0 is in March 2020, when we’ll also be giving away a St. Croix vacation.
