Jump Up is one of St. Croix’s favorite social events for both locals and visitors. It’s held four times a year – the Friday after Thanksgiving, the Friday closest to Valentine’s Day, the first Friday of May, and the Friday closest to Alexander Hamilton Day (July 12) – in downtown Christiansted.
The streets close to traffic and come to life with fun! There is live music from steel pans and local musicians around each corner. Shops stay open late and artisans set up along the streets. Local food vendors sell our favorite Crucian Cuisine and you can find drinks, like fresh coconut water (with a splash of Cruzan Rum!). And the real crowd favorite are the Guardians of Culture Moko Jumbies, stilt dancers that have been a cultural tradition in the Virgin Islands for more than 200 years.
Thank you to the Christiansted Restaurant & Retail Association for sponsoring Jump Up and to all of the vendors and performers who make it so magical.
Celebrating 30 Years
In celebration of Centerline’s 30th anniversary, we’re sharing 30 Things Centerline Loves About St. Croix. Each week we’ll share something new — and we hope you’ll chime in on social media by telling us what you love too! Our big 3-0 is in March 2020, when we’ll also be giving away a St. Croix vacation.
