National Park Week is April 20-28 — “a time to explore amazing places, discover stories of history and culture, help out, and find your park!” To kick-off the celebration, entrance fees are waived on Saturday, April 20, at all parks that usually charge an entrance fee, including Christiansted National Historic Site. It’s the Perfect Day to explore Fort Christiansvaern and the other historic Danish landmarks nearby.
Fort Christiansvaern brochures are available for a self-guided tour that will take you back in time to the mid-1700’s. The Steeple Building and Scale House are also included in the site. You might budget an hour or more to explore. The National Park Service web site can help you plan your visit.
If you’re not able to visit Christiansted National Historic Site on April 20, the normal entrance fee is $7 for people who are 16 and over, and children under 16 are admitted for free with an adult. It’s well worth the admission fee!
